A Mindfulness Practice

Mindfulness is focusing your attention on the present – to live in the moment.  As we move through life, we tend to zone out and move on autopilot with our day to day activities.  Mindfulness is just as important to our health as eating right and working out.  This will help clear your mind, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase happiness and inner joy.

There are many ways to practice mindfulness.  Here’s some examples:

  • Stop and look at a tree blowing in the wind.  How does it move?  What does it sound like?
  • Focus on that first drink of your latte in the morning – how does it taste and how do you feel as you drink it?
  • Hold an object in your hand – what does it feel like?  How does it make you feel?
  • Focus on your breath and how it moves through your body.

    I haven’t been exercising for a while and since I’ve started it again, I’m sweating a lot more than I usually do when I used to exercise regularly.

    I feel better mentally. I was wondering if it’s possible to sweat out the excess hormones (i.e.stress hormones) during aerobic activity.

    • Good question, I’m not sure. I know exercise releases stress hormones, but I’m not sure if you sweat them out. I’ll have to look into that.
